cleverwatt is developing an AI-based energy management system tailored to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with the overarching goal of reducing energy costs. To achieve this, the system leverages both local efficiency potential and external signals such as electricity market prices (Day-ahead and Intraday), and in the future, signals from the local grid operator related to network congestion. The solution flexibly and autonomously controls a wide range of consumers, such as compressed air systems, ventilation units, battery storage systems, and other industrial machines.

Due to its simple plug-and-play integration of various types of equipment, the cleverwatt EMS unlocks untapped flexibility potential in the SME sector that has so far remained unused due to a lack of suitable technical and economic solutions. Unlike existing energy management systems that are either focused on static optimization in residential settings or offered as costly custom solutions for large-scale industry, cleverwatt follows an innovative, scalable approach. It enables, for the first time, the dynamic integration and control of heterogeneous loads while creating economic incentives for grid-friendly behavior.
