Micro-CHP field test

Partners Energie Südbayern GmbH
Duration July 2009 till Dezember 2012
Contact Dr.-Ing. Peter Tzscheutschler

Micro combined heat and power (CHP) systems generate heat and electricity at the same time. A small combustion or Stirling engine generates electricity, which is preferably used to cover own requirements. Surplus electricity is fed into the public grid.

In contrast to conventional power plants, the waste heat from decentralized CHP systems can be used for heating or hot water. With the help of intelligent heat management, electricity production can also be adapted to current electricity consumption.

The field test comprises a total of 12 CHP systems of different sizes and technologies and from different manufacturers. The recorded data is collected on site in the field test, processed and forwarded to the Chair for data analysis.
