SOFC StaTe – SOFC Stack Test Rig

The Chair of Energy Systems has a test rig for SOFC shortstack tests. By coupling to biomass gasification, for example, the effects of biogenic impurities on SOFCs can be investigated under realistic conditions. In addition, stacks can be operated in both fuel cell (SOFC) and electrolysis mode (SOEC). A furnace keeps the stack at operating temperature. Dry or humidified mixtures of cylinder gases (CH4, CO, CO2, H2, N2) or bio-syngas from the fluidized bed gasifier of the SNG pilot plant (link to the SNG test rig) can be fed as fuel gases.
