Membrane functionalization of nano-scale enzyme membrane reactors for asymmetric syntheses

Tom Schwarzer, doctoral thesis Technische Universität München, 2017

Polymeric nano-compartments with encapsulated enzymes can be used as nano-scale enzyme membrane reactors. Mass transfer limitations can be alleviated by integrating natural channel proteins into the membrane. In this thesis, the very limited repertoire of channel proteins functionally integrated into polymer membranes was extended by six new channel proteins suitable for the transport of substrates for the asymmetric synthesis of chiral alcohols.
