Practical training on Biochemical Engineering (MW1043)

Biotechnological process examples are used to intensify the course on 'Biochemical Engineering Fundamentals' experimentally. The practical training on biochemical engineering is performed at the technical laboratory ('Biotechnikum') of the Institute of Biochemical Engineering.

• Sterilisation
• pre-culturing
• fed-batch production of enzymes with Escherichia coli  in a stirred-tank bioreactor
  (kinetics, catabolic repression, induction)
• quantification of the oxygen transfer rate
• isolation of the intracellular enzyme
  (cell disruption, extraction with an aqueous two-phase system)
