Welcome to the

Professorship for High Voltage Engineering and Switchgear Technology

and to the

Chair of Electric Power Transmission and Distribution

Welcome to the website of the Professorship for High Voltage Engineering and Switchgear Technology (HSA) and the Professorship for Power Transmission Systems (EEN).

In the field of high voltage technology, electrical insulation materials and electrical insulation systems for high voltage equipment and gas insulated systems are in the focus of the research projects. In addition – for a safe, sustainable and future proof transmission of electrical energy – the effects of high DC voltage loads and the current carrying capacity of electrical connections are investigated.

At the Professorship for Power Transmission Systems, the influence of future trends, such as the integration of renewable energy sources and utilization of storage technology, on the stationary and dynamic behaviour of electrical transmission and distribution systems is investigated.

In the context of the European Energiewende, these research topics are highly relevant for both, the academic and industrial engineering community as well as the wider society. For further information on individual research activities, please follow the relevant project links.
