Prof. Heldwein appointed as the head of the Chair of High-Power Converter Systems

Prof. Marcelo Lobo Heldwein has been appointed by TUM as the head of the Chair of High-Power Converter Systems (Lehrstuhl für Hochleistungs-Umrichtersysteme, HLU).

Prof. Heldwein will officially start his work at TUM from March 1, 2022. He is the succesor of Prof. Ralph Kennel, head of the Chair of Electrical Drive Systems and Power Electronics (Lehrstuhl für Elektrische Antriebssysteme und Leistungselektronik, EAL). From March 1, 2022, EAL will be renamed HLU and the research focus of the new chair will lie on power converters and includes their topology, modelling, design and control.

Prof. Heldwein received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), Florianópolis, Brazil, in 1997 and 1999, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich), Zurich, Switzerland, in 2007.  His research interests include power electronics, advanced power distribution technologies and electromagnetic compatibility.
