Research areas of the Professorship of Energy Conversion Technology

Our research work makes a significant contribution to the further development and optimization of electrical machines - for example for the areas of energy efficiency, electromobility, aerospace - and the efficient and safe operation of on-board energy networks of vehicles - for example in the area of 12 V and 48 V on-board networks. Furthermore, we deal with the topic of inductive charging and the associated circuits and simulations.

Electrical machines and systems

The design of electrical machines on the basis of analytical equations requires many empirical values, which are not available or can only be obtained in a time-consuming manner, especially for novel machine concepts. We develop the theories and create the development tools for a fast and automated design and thus enable an optimization of the design process. More ...

Electrical automotive engineering

Whether drive, safety or comfort functions ... already today no car drives without electrical technology. Rising gasoline prices and global climate protection activities mean that energy-efficient models are increasingly in demand and the trend toward further electrification - via hybrid to purely electric vehicles - is growing. We research the challenges of (electric) mobility and develop solutions for the vehicle technology of the future together with our project partners from industry. More ...

Inductive charging

The electrification of the automobile requires not only a complete redesign of the vehicle but also a new (charging) infrastructure adapted to the changed requirements. Therefore, contactless inductive charging systems (WPT - Wireless Power Transfer) are another focus of our research. More ...
