HLU Industrial Seminar - Vehicle Architecture to Semiconductor Design: Holistic Optimization of E Drive Efficiency
Events |
Date: 7 May, Thursday, 2026, 17:30 – 19:15;
Speaker: Dr. Ayman Ayad, Principal Expert for Power Electronics, Li Auto Germany.;
Location: TUM Main Campus Hörsaal 1100.
Participants: All students are welcome.
Topics
In this lecture, we dive into how Li Auto engineers high‑efficiency electric drive systems by starting from real driving scenarios rather than isolated components. You’ll see how a system‑level approach—rooted in power electronics, wide‑bandgap semiconductors, advanced control algorithms, and smart thermal design—enables us to reach a market‑leading 93% operating efficiency. We’ll explore how losses are identified across the entire operating map, how chip structures and converter topologies are optimized, and how high‑speed and low‑temperature performance are significantly improved. The goal is to show how modern power electronics can directly tackle range anxiety, boost real‑world efficiency, and redefine what an electric drive can deliver.
