19.07.2018 - TUM.ENERGY Best Presentation Award 2018

Mr. Chengyu Wang has won the TUM.ENERGY Best Presentation Award 2018 for his presentation "Numerical Simulation of a Scaled Wind Farm" at the 8th Colloquium of the Munich School of Engineering "Advances in Energy Transition".

13.07.2018 - SGL Carbon Award 2018

Ms. Helena Canet has won the SGL Carbon Award 2018 for her Master's Thesis entitled "Design of Aeroelastically Scaled Very Large Wind Turbines", carried out at the Wind Energy Institute.

The prize was awarded during the Tag der Fakultät.

20.10.2016 - Bayerischer Energiepreis 2016

The institute has won the Energy Price 2016 of Bavaria in the cathegory University for the promising results in terms of power gains thanks to smart wind farm control technologies.

05.10.2016 - TORQUE2016 - The Science of Making Torque from Wind

The international conference ‘The Science of Making Torque from Wind’ (TORQUE 2016) was organized by WEI at the Garching TUM Campus on October 5-7, 2016, under the auspices of the European Academy of Wind Energy (EAWE).

More than 530 researchers from 29 different countries discussed the latest advancements in wind energy science. The conference, which grew by more than 60% with respect to the 2014 event, saw the presentation of over 140 oral papers and almost 170 posters, which have all been published in the open-access Journal of Physics – Conference Series. A special issue of selected papers is currently under preparation for publication in Wind Energy Science, the new EAWE flagship journal, of which Prof. Bottasso is one of the founding Chief Editors.
