The subject of the cooperation with AUDI AG is the
Empirical and simulative investigation of pressure propagation within cell modules for the optimization of initial mechanical bracing.

The clamping of battery cells to form modules is one of the most important process steps in the production of high-voltage batteries for electric vehicles. The flat cells (pouch cells or prismatic cells) are pressed and then clamped to a module frame. The pressing process is the most time-critical step in the process, as it cannot be carried out at any speed. If the cells were pressed too quickly, this would lead to a short-term mechanical overload, which could cause lasting damage to the cells. Since the cycle time in the production of vehicles is a decisive factor for the process costs, the aim of this cooperation is to optimize the process steps for the production of battery modules.
