How does electrolyte motion influence Li-ion battery ageing?
In our latest publication, we present a nodal-analysis-based pseudo-3D simulation framework built entirely on equivalent circuit model (ECM) elements.
The framework captures electrolyte motion induced salt inhomogeneity (EMSI) and the associated apparent ageing effects, including capacity loss, resistance increase, and changes in electrode utilisation.
A key advantage: it enables us to observe how electrolyte motion drives lithium redistribution within the electrode — offering new insights into local Li dynamics that are difficult to access experimentally.
