We do believe in open-source. Thus, we make our framework for degradation mode analysis available as open-source code alongside our latest publication. This framework allows not only to distinguish between loss of active material at anode, cathode, and loss of lithium inventory, but also to distinguish between loss of active graphite and silicon in the case of a lithium-ion battery with a silicon-graphite blend anode.
The framework is published alongside our latest publication. There, we present a novel method which allows to derive the pure silicon open-circuit potential based solely on the blend anode electrode open-circuit potential. We can show that this method not only simplifies degradation mode analysis for lithium-ion batteries with silicon-graphite blend anodes, but also strongly incerases robustness and physical meaningfulness of the degradation mode analysis.
